Irish whiskey

Irish whiskey is the umbrella term for the different types of whiskeys made on the island of Ireland.

 its Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) came into force on October 30, 2015. 

Typologie of Irish whiskeys

In Ireland, three types of whiskey are made, 

·   Pot still whiskey, is a whiskey made from barley and distilled in a Charente’s still

·   Single malt whiskey is a whiskey produced in a single distillery.

·   Single grain whiskey is a whisky produced in a continuous distillation machine.

Oslo the Irish Blended Whiskey is a whisky made from the blending of whiskeys from one or more distilleries. It can contain whiskies of different years.

Age statement:

Irish whiskey must be matured for a minimum of three years in oak casks, Irish is bottled at a variety of ages, from 3 years to 50 years.
