Rum is a spirit drink made from a single ingredient, sugar cane, obtained through a complex process whose main stages are crushing (of the cane), fermentation, distillation and aging.

Consumption Depending on its quality or age, rum is consumed mixed with other ingredients to make cocktails and others.

Rum is classified as:

• White, when it has aged for 3 months.

• Aged in oak barrels, after one year of maturation.

• Straw, after 18 months of aging.

• Old, after 3 years of aging.

• VO, after 3 years.

• VSOP, after 4 years.

• XO, after 6 years of aging.
