Ouzo (ούζο) is a Greek aniseed alcoolique drink made from neutral alcohol mixed with various aromatics (mainly anise) and then distilled and diluted. Since 1989, European regulations have specified that ouzo must be produced in Greece to be entitled to this name.
Its alcohol content is between 38 and 50 degrees.
Ouzo is traditionally eaten as an appetizer and is often accompanied by mezze, Greek dishes such as olives, seafood and feta cheese. Here are some steps to enjoy ouzo to enjoy all its aromas.
The typical ratio is 1 part ouzo to 2 to 3 parts water, depending on your taste.
